Patricia (Neff) Drury passed away peacefully after a long illness, on January 2, 2016. She was born on April 2, 1942 to the late Esther (Knowles) and Tracey L. Neff. Patty was a lifelong citizen of Higganum, who loved and embraced her community throughout her life. As a Neff family tradition, she painted the landmark ‘Flag Rock’ on Candlewood Hill Road, in 1957, 1976, and 2003. Keeping up the tradition that her grandfather started, in 1942, the year she was born. Growing up on farmland, Patty was always a lover of animals. She had cats and dogs her entire life. Being a country girl, she also loved the outdoors. Whether it was pruning the garden, playing out in the snow, or flying kites at Hammonasset, she just had to be outside. Patty was also a very good artist. She often drew in her spare time, and painted pictures. Many of the pictures adorned her home walls. She was genuinely a sweet person, who always had a smile for you. Patty had just a hint of a “why be normal” sense of humor. But without a doubt, her most beloved treasures were her friends and family. Nothing was better than any type of get together with her husband, sons, grandkids, friends, and extended family.

She is survived by her two loving sons, Curtis Ryer and his wife Christine of Durham, and Clayton Ryer of Clinton and her grandchildren Ty, Gehrig, Skye, Zackery, and Clayton Ryer. Along with her parents, Patty was predeceased by her husband, Richard Drury and two sisters, Beverly and Dorothy.
