Patricia Mickelson, age 91, of Humboldt, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2015 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice House in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Patricia Elise Arnold Mickelson, daughter of Geoffrey Edwin and Catherine Elise (Dozois) Arnold was born on March 27, 1924 in Cleveland, Ohio. She attended elementary school in Niles, Michigan where she graduated from Niles High School. She attended college at William Woods College in Fulton, Missouri and later at the University of Wisconsin where she earned her Associates Degree. Patricia was set up on a blind date while she was attending college at William Woods. On that blind date she met Roger Thomas Mickelson. The couple were united in marriage on July 26, 1945 in Miami, Florida. The couple then moved to Humboldt where they lived on the family farm. Patricia loved to play bridge, cook fabulous meals and loved to entertain. She had the gift of hospitality and always had “the glass is always full” outlook on life. She was an incredible listener and adored her husband, Roger. The love for her children and family was limitless and her zest and passion for life will be greatly missed. Left to cherish Patricia’s memory are her children: Tamia E. Mickelson Strachan (David) of Del Mar, California, Geoffrey T. Mickelson (Cathy) of Humboldt and Tricia A. Mickelson Reilly (Tom) of Gainesville, Florida; 4 granddaughters: Ashley E. Carroll Hellickson, Jenica C. Mickelson Chartier, Cara M. Mickelson Murphy and Erin A. Mickelson; 7 great grandchildren and sister-in-law, Madelyn Swearingen of Humboldt. She was preceded in death by her Husband, Roger and her parents.
