Patricia Margaret Dodson, Anderson, died October 12, 2011. She was born in Oak Park, Illinois, the only daughter of Montgomery and Rebecca Winning. She graduated from Springfield High School in Springfield, Illinois, and DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana.

After graduation, Mrs. Dodson worked as a copywriter for Young and Rubicam Advertising Agency in Chicago, Illinois. On June 9, 1945, she married Richard I. Dodson, when he returned from the Naval Air Force, where he had been stationed in the South Pacific theatre during World War II. He died in 2001. After they were married, they lived in Springfield, Illinois, where she was active in First United Methodist Church, The Junior League, and The Association of University Women. Their two daughters, the lights of their lives, were born in Springfield. The family moved to Lima, Ohio in 1954. In Lima, she was president of The Newcomers Club, The Women’s Club, and the board of the YWCA, in addition to volunteering for much other church, school, and community activities. She did substitute teaching in both Lima Junior and Senior High Schools and did freelance writing for the Lima Newspaper. The Dodson’s moved to Ft. Wayne, Indiana before moving to Topeka, Kansas in 1971. In Topeka, she was a member of First United Methodist Church, Chapter DF-PEO, Shawnee Country Club and Alpha Phi Alumni Association. She also volunteered as a docent at a Cedar Crest, and spent 10 years as a volunteer at The Discovery Shop, benefiting Cancer, and later several more years at “Findables,” the retail shop benefiting Midland Hospice. She was a member of Stormont Vail Auxiliary. She loved traveling with her family and playing bridge.

Survivors include her two daughters, Lynn Dodson Rowley Alan, of Anderson, Indiana, and Leigh Ann Dodson Braley Richard of Kailua, Hawaii. One brother, James M. Winning, Springfield, Illinois. Five grandchildren, Alison Wade Mike of Kokomo, Meredith Rowley of Anderson, Jordan Rowley of Anderson, Andrew Braley Renee of Indianapolis, and Rebecca White Thomas of Kailua, Hawaii. Eight great-grandchildren with twins are expected in February 2012. A second brother, D.E.

Winning preceded her in death.
