Patricia Lou Hallstrom, 91, of Scottsdale, AZ passed away peacefully on September 16, 2022.  Patti was born January 4, 1931 in Quinter, Kansas to Howard Charles Reed and Irene Bower.  She was the oldest of 3 children.  She met her husband, David Hallstrom in 1950 at the University of Nebraska and they celebrated 56 years of wonderful marriage until he passed away in 2006. She shared David’s passion and heart for the City of Scottsdale.

Patti and David moved to Scottsdale in 1958. Patti became a Welcome Wagon Hostess, Teaching Leader for Bible Study Fellowship-Phoenix as well as serving in various groups at Ascension Lutheran Church and Scottsdale Bible Church.  She was also extremely proud of the United States of America, The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution, and our Founding Fathers and served in various roles supporting the Arizona Republican Party including volunteering with Barry Goldwater’s Presidential Campaign and the experience of being an alternate at the 1996 Republican National Convention in San Diego.  She was very involved with Newt Gingrich and promoting the Renewing American Civilization course and making it available in Arizona.  In the 1990’s, she was a founder and driving force for the City of Scottsdale’s Constitution Day Contest bringing an awareness and deeper understanding of the Constitution to school age children and the community.

She enjoyed supporting her children and grandchildren with their various activities and sporting events and was well known for always attending Billy’s baseball games and bringing her well-loved Texas Sheet Cake.

Patti is survived by her brother Jerome Reed of Greenwood Village CO, son Billy (Vicky) Scottsdale AZ, daughter Melissa Lane (Cecil) Ramah NM, 5 grandchildren Mitch (Natasha) Las Vegas NV, Laura, Florence AZ, Katherine Lane, Parrish FL, Christina Jones (Aaron) Puyallup WA, Cooper, New York NY, and 4 great grandchildren.
