Patricia LaVerne Richards, formerly of Flagstaff, died May 26, 2010. She was 67.
She was born Dec. 22, 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio. She moved to Tucson, Arizona, in 1964 with family, and later lived in Bullhead City, Arizona. She moved to Flagstaff, Arizona, in 1969 where she resided until moving to Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, in 2005.
She lived life the way she wanted, full of love, enthusiasm and a strong sense of determination. She was always true to herself, always the most lively person in the room. Her energy was contagious. She loved people and enjoyed being engaged in her community and the activities of her son as he grew up. She thrived on close friends, deep conversation and delighted in a lively debate. Her intelligence, quick wit and resolve were formidable. Her warmth drew people to her and created a sense of instant intimacy. She grabbed life and took it for a good ride.
She was a very spiritual person, happiest when helping people or worshiping Mother Earth and all her flora and fauna. Patty was fascinated by all religions, and sought wisdom from many sources. She became a master gardener, herbalist, massage therapist, social worker and student of human nature. She was a successful entrepreneur and small business owner, real estate broker, home maker, rancher and archaeologist, to name a few.
She is survived by her son, Devon Ambler of Arizona; grandchildren Maya Ambler and Emily Rosenvold; sister Linda Valdez, and many loving friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents LaVerne and William Fundling.
