Patricia Large Sims, 85, of Jacksonville, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, at Barton Stone Home in Jacksonville.
She was born Apr. 21, 1924, in Jacksonville, the daughter of Benjamin and Maude Flinn Large. She married Maurice E. “Moppy” Sims on Aug. 6, 1950, in Jacksonville and he preceded her in death on Mar. 11, 2009.She is survived by one son, Byron (Cindi) Sims of Carlinville; two daughters, Deborah (Joe) Ciaccio of Springfield and Diane (Michael) Hequet of Jacksonville; four grandchildren, Michael Ciaccio of Chicago, Joseph (Amanda) Ciaccio of Springfield, Thomas J. Sims and Catherine Ann Sims, both of Carlinville; and one brother, William (Patty) Large of Murrayville. She was preceded in death by two brothers, James B. Large and Delbert Flinn.
Mrs. Sims was a 1945 graduate of Our Saviour’s Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed as a supervisor at Our Saviour’s Hospital in the ER Department, and then worked at Passavant Area Hospital, before retiring from the office of Dr. Ward Dunseth. She took great pride in providing nursing care for over fifty years. She had a passion for flower gardening, especially roses and was a gourmet cook.
