Patricia A. (Miller) Johnson of Richland, Michigan, died April 28, 2017 due to complications after a yearlong struggle from two major surgeries.

Patricia (Patti) was born in Detroit Michigan, on July 13, 1951. The daughter of Harold C. Miller and Yvonne (Clark) Miller of Albion, both deceased. Her brother William also preceded her in death. She graduated from Albion High School, class of ’69 and from Eastern Michigan University with a degree in Special Education. She then earned her M.A. from Western Michigan University. Patti was a special education teacher for Battle Creek Public Schools for more than thirty years. Patricia loved teaching in special education at Urbandale, Springfield Middle School and Verona Elementary.

Making hands on projects and materials, even on weekends and throughout the summer months. Teaching was her passion and love. She purchased classroom furniture, supplies and anything that she needed to make education come alive for her students. She once purchased bunk beds for a student whose home was damaged by a fire. She carried on her love of educating students by working in her daughter Tasha’s special education classroom. It was one of her great joys, to continue to do projects and teach lessons alongside her daughter.

Patricia is survived by her husband Mark Johnson, of Richland whom she married in 1971, a relationship that was started at Albion High School where Patti was a cheerleader and Mark was the quarterback. In addition, by her daughter Tasha Harrison and husband Austin also of Richland and her special love, grandson Carson. Her second grandson is due in July. Patti is also survived by her brother Charles S. Miller and wife Sondra of Commerce Township, Michigan and her beloved cousins and Uncle Dale in the Detroit, Minnesota, Indiana and Texas areas. She continued to have a special relationship with her high school “Frat Hall” girlfriends. It was Patricia’s wish that a service not be held.
