Patricia J. Gomes, age 90, a resident of Baton Rouge, LA for the last 10 years, previously a resident of New Orleans, LA for 34 years and Slidell, LA for 21 years. Proceeded in death by her parents Dominic and Emilia Jarecki of Columbus NE; brothers Joe, Father Rey, Eugene, and Dominic; sister Delores Filipovowiz and youngest grandson, Michael Davin Gomes. Survived by husband of 69 years, Eugene (Jack) Justin Gomes, Jr.; three sons: Eugene Justin Gomes, III, D.D.S. and wife, Ginger; Glenn Mark Gomes, M.D. and wife, Sallye; and Brian Douglas Gomes; five grandchildren: Evan Justin Gomes and wife, Amy; Emily Ostlund and husband, Erik; Austin Gomes and wife, Lauren; Nyssa Gomes; and Jason Gomes; six great-grandchildren: Elliott and Charlotte Gomes; Gwendolyn and Juliet Ostlund; Bennett and Parker Gomes. Also survived by her sisters Janette Pruch; Maryann Smith; Alice Crews; Theresa Rojas and numerous nieces and nephews. Patricia and Jack met at a USO dance in Denver, CO, where Jack was stationed with the U.S. Army Air Corps and Patricia worked on the base. They corresponded by mail for a number of years while Jack’s training moved him around the country. When Jack settled in Baton Rouge to complete his education at LSU Law School, Patricia agreed to relocate. They were married September 1, 1946.
