Patricia Finnorn Gaudin died peacefully at her home on Monday, October 17, 2016, at the age of 85, surrounded by her five children. She was the beloved wife of the late William Stakelum Gaudin, Sr., to whom she was married for 54 years. She was a lifelong resident of the New Orleans area, a graduate of Dominican High School, and a devout Catholic. Patricia was born on St. Patrick’s Day in 1931. She loved fun, food, and festivals, but more than anything she loved her faith, family, and friends.
She is survived by her five devoted children, all of New Orleans: Michele Gaudin (Mary), Denise Gaudin Hoffman, Andree’ Gaudin Valeton (O.J.), Suzanne Gaudin Wirth (Jody), and William Gaudin, Jr. (Ulla). She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Renee’ Valeton Lopardi (T.J.), Christian Valeton, Hans Hoffman, Lexi Wirth, Clare Valeton, Katy Wirth, Joseph Wirth, Niko Gaudin, and Luka Gaudin; and one great grandchild, Dominic Lopardi. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anna Hebert Finnorn and William Joseph Finnorn, and her brother, Frank Joseph Finnorn. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Carole Finnorn Bourgeois (Gerald F. “The Colonel” Bourgeois) and her cherished best friend of 75 years, June Mary Metzinger.
