Patricia Ellen Banter, age 73 of Marion, went to her eternal home on Friday, December 11, 2015, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne after a brief illness. She was born on April 8, 1942, in Marion to the late Robert Bob and Joan (Rose) Riggs. Patricia was raised in Fairmount and attended Fairmount High School.

Prior to marriage, she worked at the Quaker Inn in Fairmount and RCA Consumer Electronics in Marion. On September 2, 1967, in Fairmount, Patricia married the love of her life, Glen B. Banter, who survives in Marion. She was a member of Sunnycrest Baptist Church and was a born-again Christian, being baptized in 2002.

She enjoyed going on girls’ day with her daughter, often being gone many hours with her daughter as they would shop, go to movies, and eat at restaurants. Patricia also enjoyed baking and trying out new recipes. Most of all, she will be remembered for always putting the needs of others first, and always lending a helping hand to those in need. She was a second mother to the countless children that she babysat for over the years, in some cases babysitting three generations of a family. Without fail, when anyone would leave her house, her final words to them would be I love you.

In addition to her husband of forty-two years, Glen, she is survived by a son, Jeff (Cheryl, fiance) Banter, of Marion; daughter, Amanda (Jason) Brooksher, of Marion; step-granddaughter, Ashley Brooksher, of Marion; brother, Michael (Beverly) Riggs, of Marion; in-laws, Dennis (Rana) Banter, of Dayton, Ind., Bernice Fanning, of Upland, and Fairy Banter, of Gas City; special cousin, Becky McClure, of Marion; many other nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her special friend, Toby, her pet dog. Arrangements are being entrusted to the College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt.
