God gave me the gift of life on August 7, 1934 to Harold and Wilma Stringer in Breckinridge, Colorado. Mom and dad would go on to give me five loving (and most times ornery) brothers. Kenny and Court Stringer are still around causing trouble. I met the love of my life and soul mate Charles Crabb while working as a waitress at his father’s cafe in Twin Lakes, Colorado. We eloped to Las Vegas the day before my 18th birthday and were married August 8, 1952 at the Hitching Post. We moved to Derby Acres with our son Tim in September 1953 and not only proceeded to add three daughters Ann, Carolyn, and Rebecca but also a neighborhood boy, Melvin Simmons, to our little family. We moved to Taft when the kids started school and moved to Cuyama Valley in 1969. By the time we moved back to Taft in 1990 God had blessed me with many life-long friends to go with my growing family. I entered Heaven on January 4, 2018 where Charlie, my daughter Becky, and grandson Chad, along with a host of family and friends were there to meet me. Charlie and I leave behind 4 children and their spouses, 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and our little family is still growing! My words of wisdom are to look for God’s handy work everywhere and it does the soul and body good to relax – often!
