Patricia Ann Board McCoy was born on June 30, 1950, in Louisville, KY to George Board and Olivia Withers.

Patricia was a graduate of Atherton High School in Jefferson County, KY.  As a teenager she was employed as a sales associate at W. T. Grant Department Store.  The skills she learned there prepared her for work at Sears and Roebuck. Pat was very successful in sales because she was a good listener, soft-spoken, had a quiet disposition, and a gentle smile.

After Patricia moved to Louisville, KY, she became a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, under the pastorate of Dr. C.D. Simmons. Pat loved the Lord with all her heart. She enjoyed worshipping Him and fellowshipping with the saints.  This relationship with her Lord sustained her in hard and weary times when the world stood up against her.

In 1980, Patricia moved to Sanford, NC, where she met and married Antonio Calvin McCoy. They moved to Virginia Beach, VA and hosted family and friends in their home. Together they traveled the U.S.

Pat enjoyed watching Hallmark movies. She was an avid reader who read across a wide range of venues, especially works by Christian writers, including novels based on Christian principles. Although these books were often read for entertainment, they also represented a worldview designed to reveal what compassion, honesty, problem-solving, and hope could look like to God’s people.

Patricia is preceded in death by both parents and brothers, Albert Douglas and Ronald Douglas.

Patricia Ann McCoy leaves to mourn her passing, a son, Sean D. Board; sisters Sandra Goff (Tony), Olivia Marie Payne, Doris Douglas, Parthenia Douglas, Debbi Hunter (Joe); best friends, Catherine McLean, Brenda Smith (Chip); four grandchildren, Shantel Board, Sean Board, Jr. (Sydney), Shaneice Board, Sean Board, I; one great-grandson, Ayden Board; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Patricia will be sorely missed.  Because of her position in Christ Jesus, we will see her again.  How do we know this?  We know this because we have heard and believed the Gospel, the Good News.

Rest in peace our beloved Pat.
