Mrs. Patricia Anne Hammock Betts, age 78, of Valley, Al., passed away on Monday, June 23, 2014 at the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Al.
Mrs. Betts is survived by her two sons, Robert Heyden Betts and James Allen Betts, both of Valley; three grandchildren, Jennifer Betts, Jessica (Paul) Potter, and Eric R. Betts; three great grandchildren, Madeline, Kimberly, and Aaron; two sisters, Jean (Bill) Leverett and Helen Biggers; sister in law, Faye Hammock. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse E. Betts and her brother Robert Wayne Hammock.
Mrs. Betts was born on October 1, 1935 in Lanett, Al. to the late Robert B. and Rosa O. Hammock. She was a loving mother. She was a graduate of Lanett High School, class of 1953. She was employed by West Point Stevens from June 26, 1957 until her retirement on Jan. 1, 2001, with 43 years of service. At her retirement, she was Director of Human Resources, WPS Stores, Inc. She had been a member of the Fairfax First Christian Church since August 13, 1955. She was very active in her church, serving on the Official Board, the Board of Trustees, Secretary/Treasurer, Superintendent of Sunday School, President of Christian Womens Fellowship, Chairperson of the Youth Committee, and Sponser of Christian Youth Fellowship.
