The world has lost a treasure on October 12, 2012 – a true matriarch and mentor. Patricia Ann Lohnes entered this world on February 27, 1942, 1 1/2 hours before her twin brother Ralph Peter Davendonis. She stood apart even then. Living her beginning years in a small rural town, Hoosick Falls, New York, Pat learned her faith and the meaning of commitment. After completing high school, Pat married and embarked upon her most meaningful profession, motherhood. After giving birth to 5 children, Pat’s life then took a new path-divorce, remarriage and a new life in Canon City, Colorado. She then settled down with the love of her life for 43 years, Charlie Lohnes. Along the way and giving birth to two more children, Pat expanded her responsibilities to a career outside the home. Her outside career lasted 20 years, until the age of 63 when she retired. Raising 7 children in her words was “my privilege.” Along with 7 children, she also helped raise Lauren Haynes, her grand-daughter. Lauren was more like a daughter than a grand-daughter to Pat. Any person that had the privilege of being part of Pat’s life knows how compassionate and giving she was. A true blessing from God. Pat’s ability to show love was realized when her own life became riddled with cancer in 2008. An entire family, who learned unconditional love from the best, became her caregivers and support system. After a year and one-half of superb hospice care in her home and ultimately in her own bed, Pat went ‘home’ peacefully. Her lasting legacy is her family- husband Charlie Lohnes; children, Christopher Haynes (Conor, Cailey), Dennis Haynes (Mckenzie, Broc), Greg Haynes(Jake), Ann Berner (Lauren, John, Christopher) Trisha Hightower (Mandie, Shayna, Halie, Stephanie), Jennifer (Gerald) Lohnes, Darcy(Clint)Crites(Aura, Evelyn); along with three great grandchildren, Karley, Marilyn, Madelynn. Family and friends abound; brothers Peter (Sharon) Davendonis and Joseph(Diane) Davendonis; cousin and best friend Arlene Wysocki – all still living in Hoosick Falls,New York. Also of special note is her dear niece Nancy Devendonis and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Jann Schoenholtz Sloan and Cheryl Henderson for all that they have done for Pat. A huge void is felt by all who knew this remarkable woman. We will carry her in our lives by showing humility, strength and compassion. In this way, she will be forever…
