Patricia “Patty” Abraczinskas passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at the age of 78.
Patty was born September 24, 1943, at Lutheran Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Michael P. and Katherine B. Lagana. She was the second of three children.
She grew up and went to school in Montgomery, P.A., graduating from Montgomery Area High School in 1961. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in 1965 from Bloomsburg State Teachers College in Bloomsburg, P.A. Later, in 1970, she earned her Master of Education degree, also at Bloomsburg State. During that period, she married Dennis E. Abraczinskas of Catawissa, P.A. in August of 1966.
Patty’s life and career took her from 10 years of teaching first and third grades at W. Evans Memorial Elementary School in Bloomsburg, PA., to a 10-year hiatus to start a family of her own, to another 25+ years of teaching in various positions across second through sixth grades at Wallace Elementary in Wallace, N.C. after relocating there with her family in 1985. She was known as a beloved and celebrated teacher before retiring in 2010.
Patty is survived by her husband of 56 years, Dennis; children, Michael Abraczinskas (Jennifer) of Raleigh, N.C., and Nicholas Abraczinskas (Rebecca) of Miami Beach, F.L.; grandchildren, Hannah, Tyler and Aurelia; sister, Michelle Mamolen (Paul) of Las Vegas, N.V., along with nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and soon-to-arrive grandnephew. She is predeceased by her brother, Danny Lagana, and niece, Christine Wyatt, both of Cape Coral, F.L.
