Patricia Ann Cunha Novak, 69
Wynantskill – Patricia Ann Cunha Novak, 69, of Church Street died Tuesday, August 18, 2009, at her residence after a brave fight with a long illness.
Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late Daniel Cunha and Doris Wells Cunha and wife of Joseph Z. Novak. She was raised in Watervliet and was a graduate of Catholic Central High School. She resided in Wynantskill since 1966.
Mrs. Novak was a 20 year veteran of the Active Army National Guard in the 42nd Infantry serving in Military Police and Military Intelligence discharging as a Sergeant First Class. She also worked for the Wynantskill School District.
She was Adjutant for the Korean War Association, County Commander for the Rensselaer County American Legion and a member of the American Legion #1489 Wynantskill. She was a communicant of St. Jude’s Church in Wynantskill, a 4H leader and a member of the Orchid Society.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors in addition to her husband include her children, Lisa Novak of Latham, Joseph Z. Novak Jr. of Wynantskill, Beth Novak of Wynantskill and Stacy (Ken) Jewett of Cohoes; her siblings, Barbara (Tom) Parker of Albany, Daniel Cunha of Troy, David Cunha of SC and Mary Jean Nelson of MA; her grandchildren, Rebecca and Jessica Krus, Timothy Henry, Rachel, Megan and Matthew Novak, Andrew Milanese, Craig, Nichole, Jonathan, Esther, Elizabeth and Paul Jewett; her great grandchildren, Karina and Nicholas Carroll and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by daughter, Debra Novak.
