Clarence William “Pat” Pottorff, 89, of Boerne, Texas, passed away on October 9, 2021.  He is currently serving as a USMC Guard at the Gates of Heaven.

Pat was born on December 19, 1931 in Endicott, New York to Clarence & Frances Pottorff. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1949 and proudly served until 1959 when he was honorably discharged as a Gunnery Sergeant. While he was still in the Corps, he attended the University of Georgia and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism. Pat then worked as a journalist at the Florida Times-Union focusing on human interest stories. From 1968-1988, he worked for IBM at various positions in both Florida and Texas. After retiring from IBM, he started his own business specializing in antique furniture restoration and furniture building. Pat enjoyed cooking; reading, especially military history; woodworking of all types; and traveling back to Florida as often as possible. He never met a stranger, always had a kind word for everyone, and a joke or a story to tell. When he discovered his Irish heritage a few years ago, he totally embraced being Irish and had blessings memorized for any occasion.

Pat is survived by his loving wife of forty years, Sandy; his son Mark Pottorff; his daughter, Kris Claro, and a loving extended family.

The family would like to express their gratitude towards all those who have provided prayers, support, and love over the past few weeks
