Pastor Robert M. “Bob” Couch, age 82, went to be with the Lord on February 28, 2013. He passed away in a local nursing facility after suffering a stroke.
The son of Lloyd and Myrtle Couch, Bob was born on July 26, 1930 in Lyman, South Carolina. He graduated from Spartanburg High School in 1949 and attended Bob Jones University. He graduated from Southeastern Bible College in Lakeland, FL in 1955.
Pastor Couch preached the Word of God for over 50 years. An ordained minister of the Assemblies of God, he pastored churches in South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas and Missouri.
During his ministry, he participated in various ministerial associations in cities where he pastored. He also served as a youth camp director, police chaplain and hospital chaplain. Bob labored for the Lord spiritually, but he also labored with his hands helping build several churches and a parsonage.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carol Hicks Couch; three children, Jan (Greg) White, David (Claudia) Couch, and Judy (John) Padgett; four grandchildren, Kelley White, Andrew Couch, Steven Padgett, and Jonathan Padgett.
He was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother, Aaron Couch.
