Pastor Robert Hatten was born on August 24, 1946, in Fairfield, Alabama, to the late Tom Hatten and Elizabeth Johnson.
Pastor Hatten was a graduate of Fairfield Industrial High School, Fairfield, AL. He was a homebuilder for over 30 plus years helping many families become homeowners. He was active early in his life with the civil rights movement, marching with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Pastor Hatten was a graduate of Rushing Springs School of Theology. He was the Vice-President of Mt Carmel District Missionary Baptist Association. He was ordained 24 years ago as the Pastor of Mt Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Childersburg, AL. He loved to mentor young ministers and adored his church family.
On Monday, December 28, 2020, Mr Hatten departed this life at Brookwood Medical Center, Birmingham, AL.
Pastor Robert Hatten was preceded in death by: Mother, Elizabeth Johnson; Father, Tom Hatten; Daughter, Cateena Michelle Hatten; Brothers, Tom Hatten and Johnny Hatten; Sisters, Rose Miles and Rynetta Smith. He is also preceded in death by close friends, Ms. Gloria Averett and Rev. Kenneth R. Walker.
Pastor Hatten leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and devoted wife of 26 years Debra Hatten of Sylacauga, AL; Children, Qwentella Hatten of Birmingham, AL; Carl (Erica) Hatten of Atlanta, GA, Jamal Hatten of Oxford, AL, Ausia (Adrian) Hudson of Calera, AL, Semaris (Jasen) Ward of Powder Springs, GA, Antoinette Gamble of Evanson, IL and Rashad Oden of Sylacauga, AL; Sisters, Annye Braxton, Ellen Major, Virginia (Henderson) Carmichael and Malinda (Nathaniel) Coleman; Brother, Leroy (Flora) Hatten; 24 Grandchildren; 8 Great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
