He received Christ at an early age. Pastor Garrett became a faithful member of the Move of God Bibleway Deliverance Tabernacle. He later founded the Walking by faith Ministry in Childersburg, AL.

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife, Minister Cordella Garrett; two daughters, Marceda Lee (Likimmo) and Shayla Garrett; son, Gabriel Garrett; three sisters, Mary Garrett, Dorothy E. Perry, and Bernadine (Lance) Garrett; three brothers, Eddie (Willie) F. Garrett, Walter L. (Vanessa) Garrett and Leon Staples; and a host of other relatives and friends.
