Clayton Everette Davis Sr. , the fourth of twelve children wasborn to the union of Albert Davis  Josephine Kelly Davison March 15, 1944. Clayton began his journey with christ at an early age at Mount Gilead Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor AC Pickett. He was very active in church. He attended Sunday School regularly, and BTU Convention with his father. Young Clayton loved to play basketball as well even when he was hurt which earned him the nickname of “Broke Ankle”. 

Clayton graduated from Harper High School in 1962. He was later drafted into the United States Army in December of 1967 and was honorably discharged in November of 1969. After returning home from serving his country he joined the workforce by way of Allied Papermill as an operator. He later discovered his passion for driving trucks. He drove log trucks for approximately 30 years until he retired with Whatley Timbers in 2014.

He answered the call to preach the gospel and his initial sermon was Sunday September 27, 1992 and later began his journey as Pastor Sunday July 23, 1995 at St. John Baptist Church in Gainestown, Alabama until his death. He also was the pastor at Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church.

On July 22, 1972 he was joined in holy matrimony with Clidy Leggett; he later married Evelyn Davis on October 19, 1999.

Pastor Davis departed this life on October 19, 2021, at Choctaw General Hospital in Butler, Alabama. He is proceeded in death by his parents; Albert Sr. and Josephine Kelly Davis, grandson Brandarius Hill; four siblings; Tommie Davis, Viola Davis, Etta Davis, James Davis, and Cornelius Carroway

Left to cherish his memories are five loving and devoted children: Clinton (Dinitra) Rankin of St. Martinville, LA, Vicki Davis of Grove Hill, AL, Clayton E. (Markethia) Davis Jr. of Silas, AL, Frederick (Stacey) Davis of Millbrook, AL, and Tishana Davis of Grove Hill, AL

His wife Evelyn Davis of Whatley, AL; Four stepchildren; Lasonya (Vince) Coston of Monroeville, AL, Tramaine Davis of Whatley, AL, Demetrius Davis of Whatley, AL, and Timothy (Jasmine) Davis of Pensacola, FL 

Three brothers; Albert Davis Jr. of Oakland, CA, Lessie (Jeane) Davis of Melbourne, FL, and Roy Davis of Eight Mile, AL 

Four sisters; Virginia Davis of Eight Mile, AL, Dellie Davis-Matthew of Springfield Garden, NY, Daisy (Thomas) Davis Credle of Laurelton, NY, and Elsie Davis-Virgil of Greensboro, NC

One aunt, Sarah Williams of Eight Mile, AL, and five uncles, Elijah (Emma) Kelly, Raymond (Christine) Kelly, Joseph (Sarah) Kelly, Nathaniel Kelly, all of Eight Mile, AL, and Philip (Joyce) Kelly of Mobile, AL

Eighteen grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, one great- granddaughter, one step-great grandchild, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, his beloved church family St. John, and friends (7 devoted; Earl Berry Sr., Ed Davis, Daniel Jones, Pastor Earnest Hunt, Sidney Carroway, Willie Causey, and Bill Jackson).
