Albert Bradley Wycoff Jr. entered the presence of Christ on December 16, 2018. Brad was born on July 28th, 1947 in Phoenix, Arizona. The oldest of four children born to ‘AB’ and Lily Jo Wycoff, Brad grew up in Phoenix, with sisters Cathi, Nancy, and Carolyn. A gifted athlete, he excelled in baseball and football. Many of his friends from his early days still exclaim what an amazing pitcher and quarterback he was.
Brad prayed to receive Christ as his Lord and Savior in his late teens, and devoted his life to living for God’s glory. As a junior in high school, his dad moved the family upstate to Flagstaff. After graduation from high school, Brad enrolled in Northern Arizona University. During his sophomore year, God brought a sweet young lady named Kathy into his life. They married on Aug. 30, 1968 in Flagstaff. After graduation Brad and Kathy moved to Denver where he enrolled in Denver Seminary. They welcomed their first born son Bert in Denver (1972). Their second born child Stephen was born in (1973) in Phoenix. Brad excelled during his college years and afterward selling books with The Southwestern Company. Both he and Kathy sold books before the little ones came along. The job with Southwestern eventually took them to Franklin, Tennessee where Marissa (1975), Tim (1979), and Katey (1982) were born.
The Wycoff family headed west in 1982, settling in Littleton, Colorado. Joining the Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA), Brad was ordained a minister in 1987. Brad and Kathy both had a vibrant love for Jesus and devoted their lives to spreading the Gospel (good news!): that Christ lived a sinless, spotless life, and even though he was God incarnate, He willingly suffered and died on the cross for the sins of all who repent (turn) from their sins, and profess Him as Lord (believing that He is God and rose from the dead) (Romans 10:9,10). Christ’s love and sacrifice for sins saves His children from eternity in Hell (John 3:16)! Brad and Kathy raised their five children with the Gospel as the most important foundation to build their lives on. They joyfully served Christ as they (and we!) await His glorious return.
Brad and Kathy had an infectious love for nature, and were always admiring God’s handiwork and power evidenced all around us in His creation. As an employee of Continental Airlines (1983-2002), flight benefits enabled them to take their kids on multiple trips to Mexico and Hawaii, where we have many fond memories of tropical family adventures. They also made sure that every summer the family would go on backpacking trips in a different wilderness area in the Colorado Rockies. We have so many memories of singing around the camp fire & admiring the Creator’s handiwork in the heavens and pristine mountains. It’s no wonder that Brad, Kathy and kids feel most alive when at the beach or in the mountains.
Brad and Kathy planted a church, Christ Fellowship, as part of the C&MA ‘Easter 100’ initiative in 1987. The church would meet in schools or theaters throughout the years. The family would set up for church service each Sunday morning. Brad and Kathy led the church from 1987 to 1994, and though they both held other jobs, their priority was the Church and the Lord’s work. As a devoted evangelist, Brad would continually share the Gospel with all who he met. If you met Dad, I’m sure you remember a conversation where he lovingly shared the Gospel with you or prayed with you!
Brad is preceded in death by his loving wife Kathy (2009), son Stephen (2012), sister Nancy (2013), and parents Albert ‘AB’ (1992) and Lily Jo (2007). He is survived by son Bert Wycoff (Lisa, Lynchburg, VA), daughter Marissa Laird (Chad, California, MD), son Tim Wycoff (Elizabeth, Spokane, WA), daughter Katey Laird (Bret, Kalamazoo, MI), sister Cathi Selph (Robert, Atlanta, GA), and sister Carolyn Potter (Rodney, Flagstaff, AZ). Brad and Kathy are survived by 19 grandchildren!
