Pasquale Vincenzo “Pat” Masotta, 84, a lifelong resident of Hamden, passed away peacefully June 2, 2012 in the CT Hospice, Branford after a brief, but valiant battle with leukemia. He was born Aug. 24, 1927 in the house his father built on Thompson St, son of the late Vincent and Theresa Mantovani Masotta. He graduated from HamdenHigh School, served in the US Army from 1945-46, and then attended UConn for Animal Husbandry and University of New Haven for engineering. Pat was a commercial and residential contractor and builder for most of his professional life until retirement. He loved life, making friends, telling stories, gardening, and sharing good food with family and friends. An avid sportsman, he played baseball, football and hockey in his youth and continued to play golf well into his 80’s. His special passion was horses, and along with his brother, he owned a number of race horses. In recent years, he took many continuing education courses in computers, business law and creative writing. With Pat, life was always an adventure and a story to be told. He is survived by his sister in law, Carol Ferriolo Masotta; his nephews, Vincent (Christine), John (Erin) and Ronald (Lynde) Masotta; five great nieces and nephews and several cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Ronald J. Masotta and his companion of 40 years, Madolin Pesticci, but is survived by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchild. He was the guardian and life-long friend of the late Stanley Loneks. The family would like to thank his special friend, Doree Robinson, his cousins Marigrace Larke and Phyllis Cofrancesco, and friend Dorothy Mysuna for their exceptional love care and support to Pat, especially during his illness.
