Parthena Mae Sidlo was born February 25, 1941, to Ora and Alwilda Baldwin Ross at the family homestead four miles south of Montrose, Kansas. Parthena was the only child born to Ora and Alwilda. Growing up, she loved being active on the farm especially with the care of the animals.

When Parthena started first grade, she went to school in Burr Oak, Kansas, continuing there thru sixth grade. She then attended seventh thru twelfth grades in Guide Rock, Nebraska, graduating with the class of 1959.

Parthena was married to Duaine Sidlo on October 1, 1961, at the Inavale, Nebraska Methodist Church. One daughter, Robyn Leigh, was born to this union. Duaine and Parthena celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2011.

In 1970, Parthena began working at the Sprague Nursing Home now known as Heritage of Red Cloud. She worked a total of forty years there before retiring, serving in many different roles from nursing to kitchen to laundry. Her goal was always to meet the residents’ needs while providing them the dignity and respect they deserved.
