Mrs. Tramble was born July 18, 1915 in Madison County, Alabama to the late James Jefferson and Laura Powers. She departed this life on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Parkway Medical Center.
Mrs. Tramble received her formative education in the Madison County School System and her nursing degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. She was employed for many years as a nurse at Decatur General Hospital. She was known for reciting her alphabet backwards and was still able to do this the day before her death.
Mrs. Tramble accepted Christ at an early age and joined St. Elizabeth Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America in Madison. She later joined St. James CPCA where she was faithful member and the oldest member of the church. She was a member of Choir Number 1, Usher Board, Godly Women, Missionary Society, Youth Department, Vacation Bible School and the Presbytery where she was recognized as Woman of the Year by the General Assembly.
She was involved for many years with the Meals on Wheels, Decatur Youth Enrichment, Alabama Democratic Conference, District 1 Community Development Group, Elizabeth Chapter No.40 Order of Eastern Star and ministered every Sunday for over thirty years at Sunbridge Nursing Home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Milton Tramble; three sisters, Cora Beasley, Iona Cooper and Leona Jefferson; four brothers, Earnest Miller, James Jefferson, Collier Miller and Oliver Jefferson Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memory: one son, David Tramble Sr. (Annie) of Decatur; seven grandchildren, David Tramble II (Angela) of Atlanta, Georgia, Shantay Harrison of Nashville, Tennessee, Travis Bates, Katrina Woods, Makala Rainey, Latracious Rainey and Sheneka Young all of Decatur; two sisters, Eddie C. Morrow of Elyria, Ohio and Annie Mae Hafley of Madison; sister-in-law, Edmonia Jefferson of Madison; two devoted friends, Nettie Wynn and Marjoria Looney both of Decatur and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
