Ogden- Pamela Newey Stafford, aged 72, passed away on May 20th, 2019 in McKay Dee Hospital.
Born in Ogden on August 14th, 1946, Pam led a life dedicated to helping others as a registered nurse, working from an early age at various assisted care facilities and as a Health Occupations Instructor at the Job Corps locations in both Clearfield and Alma, Kansas.
She was widely known to many as a coach’s wife, supporting athletes from Bonneville and Roy High School Track and Cross-Country throughout the 1970s through mid-1990’s at meets or in her home. She also was a devoted advocate for the United States Army and Veteran’s Affairs. Pam was always quick with a joke, and all who knew her will fondly remember her as a person who could bring a smile to any face, able to brighten a room with her presence.
She was a happy member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a longtime member of the Utah Democratic Party, spending many years in the 1980s and 1990s caucusing for various Weber County Candidates. She also loved animals, even risking her life to save her dog, Peanut Butter, as it fell into the well of her house when she lived in North Carolina twelve years ago. Her dog is recently deceased, as well.
She is survived by her son, Michael Paul Peterman of Huntsville, Alabama, Colonel, U.S. Army Retired; her daughter, Amy Marie Cristelli of Bothell, Washington; and her son, Timothy Neville Peterman currently posted to Hawaii, Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Army. She had seven grandchildren; Danielle Wicks, Brittney Cristelli, and Amanda Cristelli, all of Washington; Clyde and Michael Peterman, of Alabama; and Pailin Samantha and Hawk Peterman, of Hawaii, and one great-grandchild, Jaxon Wicks, of Washington. Her father and mother, Clyde Newey and Verla Kelson Newey preceded her death.
