Pamela “Pam” M. LaBarre, 69, a life long resident of Plainville, passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at her home while being lovingly cared for by family and close friends.  Born on December 6, 1941 in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late Congettina (Deseno) and Victor Zigmund, Sr.

Pam, an LPN, shared her nursing skills and dedication to care giving with her patients at the Hospital for Special Care in New Britain, for over 20 years.

A very private person in life, she was a strong woman who lived her life as she chose, enjoying frequent summer trips to her favorite place on Cape Cod. As family, friends and co-workers can attest, Pam was a very generous person who helped many people in need, preferring to do so anonymously, as was her way. Pam also enjoyed reading, cooking and sharing her recipes with others.

She leaves her children Denise LaBarre of South Windsor and Matthew LaBarre of Plainville; her grandchildren Stephanie Simard and husband Cameron of Plainville; Melissa LaBarre and fiancé Justin Gill of Prospect; and Emily LaBarre of Plainville; a great-grandson Ethan Simard; her siblings William Zigmund of Florida; Deborah Ravenwood and husband Kurtis of Manchester; along with several nieces and nephews. Her extended family included Margaret Marut; Tina Myslenski; Deborah Tompkins; Marcy Spieler; Ronald Hepp; Mark Pellegrini; Matthew Lapane and her special companion, her dog Yaa-Yaa.  She was predeceased by her brother Victor L. Zigmund, Jr.

Also, a very special thanks to Pam’s co-workers, Eileen, Vycki, Lorraine, Jean, Lenie, Judy, and anyone else not mentioned here, whose kindness and generosity are greatly appreciated during her final months. Also, the entire staff at Avon Health Center, who were instrumental in caring for her, and to the wonderful people of Masonicare Home Health & Hospice.

Family and friends are welcome to gather to celebrate Pam’s life on Monday January 31, 2011 from 4 until 7p.
