Pamela J. (Strickland) Mills, 45 of Bristol, beloved wife of Edward Mills, was called home to God on Saturday, September 20, 2008 after fighting a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Raised in Plainville by her loving parents, Donald and Dorothy Strickland, she was the fourth child in a family of five. She graduated from Plainville High School in 1981 and went on to work in insurance. She and Ed married in 1990 and she became step-mother to Tracy Carpentier. Soon after the birth of her first child, Jessica in 1998, she opened a home day care center so she could be a stay at home mom. Her love of children knew no bounds and was lavished on Tracy, Jessie and Jason who was born in 2000. Many people loved and admired Pam, and her winning smile and cheery personality greeted countless adults and children at the Bristol Boys and Girls Club, her last place of employment.

Besides her husband, children and parents, she leaves two grandchildren, Jasmine and Brandon. Two brothers, Peter Strickland and his wife Robin of Florida, Paul Strickland of Kensington; two sisters, Donna and her husband Louis Pirolli of New Hampshire, and Diane and her husband Benjamin Gediman of Plainville. She leaves four nieces and nephews, Jonathan Strickland, Anthony Pirolli and Audrey and Phoebe Gediman.

Pam’s family wishes to thank her cousin Susan Strickland for setting up Hospice Care for Pam and for the love and devotion shown by her home health aide Theresa Pratt and her nurse Kristin Kuyk from hospice.
