Pamela Ann Vance passed away Sunday April 3, 2022 at Mercy One Hospice in Johnston, Iowa while holding hands with the love of her life David and surrounded by her family.
Pam was born May 31, 1946 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Jack and Darlene Staebler (Carter). She married David Vance in 1968 then moved to Wichita, Kansas where she continued her education and became an LPN which was always her dream. While she was in Wichita she also had her first son, Tony. Later the family moved to Des Moines where she continued to work in various nursing homes around town. In 1978 she had her second child, Troy. Her biggest joy in life was her family.
In 1994 she became a grandma to Jessie and again in 1997 to Katie. They had many adventures shopping, playing at grandma’s house and sneaking popcorn and candy into the movies she took them to. When not spending time with them, she enjoyed gardening, latch hook, ceramics classes in Arizona, garage sale shopping and reading.
Pam was always busy doing something or helping someone. She was a very kind soul and will be missed by all of us.
She is survived by her husband David, sons Tony (Michele) Vance and Troy Vance. Granddaughters Jessie (Miguel) Ortiz and Katie Vance, her mother Darlene Johnson (Staebler) and her sister. She was preceded in death by her father Jack Staebler, grandparents Howard and Jessie Carter.
