Palmira M. Barboza Norwich- Palmira Maria Barboza 60 of North Street died Friday, at her home with her family by her side. She was born on October 19, 1952, exactly 60 years from her date of death, in
Providence, RI, daughter of the late Maria (Lopes) Santos and her fathers, the late Matthew “Tia” Santos and the late Raymond Barboza. Ms. Barboza graduated from the Norwich Free Academy Class of 1972; she was the first Prom Queen of Cape Verdean community and also graduated from Johnson and Wales College in Providence. Palmira worked at the Thermos Co. and as a cook at the Mohegan Sun. She was a member of the Cape Verdean Santiago Society. Palmira is survived by her son, Steven Barboza of Norwich, her siblings, Manuel Barboza of Norwich, Benjamin Barboza of Norwich, Adeline Simmons of Norwich, Marcelina Aldi of Uncasville, Elizabeth Briggs of Uncasville, Angelina Gardner of Norwich and Sylvanna Santos of Norwich, brother Frances Barboza of Virginia and sister Josephine Gomes of Pawtucket, RI, two grandchildren, Saeri Barboza and Camron Barboza. She is predeceased by a daughter Eugenia M. (Barboza) Fisher, brother Raymond Barboza, Jr. and sister Dominga Costa brother, Norman Barboza and a sister, Rosie Barboza.
