Ouida Putnal Packard, 95, born May 18, 1919 in Day, Florida, to Stephen Burnham Putnal and Lessie Stephens Putnal, has gone to be with her Lord and Maker. She resided in Ocean Grove, New Jersey for more than 50 years with her husband Clyde S. (Bunkie) Packard. She met Bunkie while working at NAS Jacksonville during World War II. After the war, they married and moved to Ocean Grove. In Ocean Grove she led a full and rewarding life. During that time she served, among other things, as Secretary and Treasurer of the Hannah Crossman VFW for 33 years, served on Ocean Grove Recreation Committee and was Chairman of the Playground Committee where she raised money for equipment. She also served on the committee that developed the Reassurance Program and was an active volunteer for the program. In addition, she was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, continued to volunteer at the Senior Center, was active in PTA for 16 years, was a Brownie Troop Leader, a Girl Scout Leader, was active in Pop Warner Football for ten years, and was a St. Paul Choir Mother for18 years. She also was a Sunday school teacher for 16 years, during which she organized and was a charter member of the Elizabeth Stroh Circle, and was a member of St. Paul’s Young Adults.
