Otto “Banton” Beyers, 83, of Fortville passed away on September 22, 2009.
He was born on August 1, 1926, in Hobbieville to the late Joe and Lottie (Carmichael) Beyers and graduated from Fortville High School.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Banton was also an active member and past elder of the Fortville Christian Church, serving in many capacities including the Mission Committee. He founded and served as Director of Men for Christ.
Mr. Beyers is survived by his wife of nearly 57 years, Dorothea E. (Holt) Beyers; daughters: Diana C. Beyers of Fortville; Beverly Fournet of Fortville; and Mary (Alan) Kelly of Brownsburg; John W. (Wanda) Holt of Fortville; sisters-in-law Georgina Beyers and Jesse Beyers; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers Rex, Ralph, Herbert, Eugene and Joe Jr.; and sister Eunice Garsnett.
