Otis Sharpe, Jr. passed away on Friday, August 12, 2022 in Lakeland, Florida after a short but fierce battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 25, 1952 in St. Cloud, Florida to Otis Sharpe, Sr. and Dora Louisiana Shenefield.
Otis was best known for his story telling and making you laugh so hard your sides hurt. He was kind-hearted, witty, clever and never met a stranger- ever.
His life was like a box of chocolates- he never knew what he was gonna get, but he found the sweetness in it every time.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Norma Jean Stevens Douglas “Tiny”.
He is survived by his children Timothy Martin Sharpe (Rebecca) of Live Oak, FL, Otis Junior Carden of Auburndale, FL, Otis Sharpe III, of Lake Wales, FL, Brandy Thomas (Darrin) of Bartow, FL, Mandy Hall of Palatka, FL, Priscilla “Shugie” Strickland (A.J.) of Frostproof, FL, and Hope Hawkinson of Reno, NV; his brothers James Douglas Sharpe “PeeWee” (Vickie) of Lake Wales, FL and John George Shenefield “Butch” (Janice) of Geneva, AL; his sister Fleda May Stevens Hancock “Punky” (Hollis) of Lake Wales, FL; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren who he absolutely adored; nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
A special THANK YOU goes to Matt and Amber Freeland of Alturas, FL whom he considered family and provided him a warm loving home for the last several years of his life and to all those who came to the hospital, called and messaged to check in on him. He left this world knowing just how very much he was loved.
