Otis Mason Carter, Jr. was born on June 16, 1954, in Louisa County, VA to the late Otis Mason Carter, Sr. and Dorothy Ann Carter. With loved ones by his side, he stepped into eternity on Sunday, January 21, 2018, to be with the Lord.
Otis came to meet his wife, Helen in 1973 while working in Charlottesville, VA. The two would later marry on October 26, 1974, and call Gaithersburg, MD their home. The two were blessed with 43 years of marriage, four children, Tanya, Diallo, Tanisha, and Tiffany and three beautiful grandchildren, Joshua, Tatianna, and Malachi.
Our beloved Otis, or “Mason” and “Big O” as he was called affectionately, was an attentive and faithful husband, a nurturing, caring and protective father, and a fun-loving Papa. He was an avid Redskins fan, dedicated coin collector, staunch Solitaire player and gifted baker. He enjoyed playing softball for different leagues and was a competitive member of Thales’ (Racal) Employee Softball League, where he was an accomplished employee for 23 years as a Quality Assurance Inspector.
Otis’ favorite thing to do was to spend time with his family.
