Otis L. Moore, 59, of Elkhart, passed away July 4, 2013, in his residence.  Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, in Prairie Street Cemetery Veteran Tower’s. The U.S. Army Funeral Honor Detail and DAV 19 will provide military graveside rites.

Survivors include his longtime companion, Mildred Jackson of Elkhart; four daughters, Akita Moore of South Bend, Deesha Armstrong of Elkhart, Tiffany Jackson of Fort Wayne and Trolonda Jackson of South Bend; three sons, Otis C. (Anaida) Moore of Indianapolis and Deeshon Armstrong and Tyrell Armstrong, both of Elkhart; mother Mae L. Moore of Blytheville, Ark.; four brothers, Richard (Linda) Moore and Dennis Moore, both of Blytheville, David (Shannon) Farmer of Little Rock, Ark., and Henry Thompson of Dayton, Texas; four sisters, Barbara (Ezell) Mitchell of Blytheville, Annette (Harold) Claybrooks of Blytheville, Gloria (W.C.) Fuller of Louisiana and Mary Jo Moore of La Port, Texas; best friend, Leonard “Mickey” Wiley of Elkhart; 18 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; nieces; nephews; and two special playmates, Kaniya and Keyonna “IzzY” Jackson, both of Elkhart.

He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Denise Moore. Otis was a graduate of Elkhart Central High School. He later served in the U.S. Army from 1974 to 1976. He was employed at Irvine Shade & Door in Elkhart for more than 17 years, prior to his retirement.
