Our Lord and Savior called Otis Jeffries, Jr., a Husband, A Father, a Grandfather, an Uncle, a Cousin, and a Friend to be by his side as he transitioned this earth of Tuesday evening, December 21, 2021, at 4:05 p.m. at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
He was born on April 5th, 1936, to the late Otis Jackson Jeffries, Sr., and the late Signora Westbrook Jeffries.
Otis attended Pleasant Grove High School and was a proud member of the Class of 1954. He served his tour of duty in the Army of the United States and was honorably discharged in 1964. He married Janis Faucette Jeffries, whom he loved immensely, now recently deceased, and they were married for over 61 years. He received his Associates Degree in Business Administration from Alamance Technical Institute in Burlington, North Carolina. He was employed at Western Electric, Lucent Technologies, and finally Alamance Regional Hospital for over 40 years. He was a faithful member of Jeffries Cross Baptist Church where he served on the Trustee Board, as President of the Usher Board, a member of the Male Chorus, a member of the Ever Ready Christian Fellowship, and other committees at the church. Also, he was a faithful member of El Jebel Temple #97, the James T. Diggs Consistory, #308 and the Blue Lodge, all of Burlington, North Carolina.
He leaves behind his two devoted sons, Otis Jackson Jeffries, III (Jackie) and Eric Christopher Jeffries, and his daughter-in-law, Joanne Jeffries, who he regarded as the daughter that he never had. He also leaves three grandchildren, Tyler Eric Jeffries, Ashlynn Joanne Jeffries, and Sarah Lillian Jeffries, who affectionately referred to him as “Slick”. He loved them dearly and would walk to the end of the earth for each one of them. He also leaves a behind his only remaining living sibling whom he loved so much, Faye Jeffries Hester (Ralph) of Durham, N.C. His in laws, Betty Tate (Donald) of Mebane N.C., Herman Faucette, Jr., Roswell, Ga. and Ronald Faucette (Mildred) of College Park, Ga., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom he loved dearly as well.
He is preceded in death by his two sisters, Shirley Jeffries McLeod, Barbara Jeffries Gilliam, and his brother, Larry Aubrey Jeffries.
