Orville W. Bill Lankford, 95, formerly of Bicknell, IN passed away on March 14, 2015, in Indianapolis, IN. He was born on March 14, 1920, in Edwardsport, IN, the son of Charles O. and Faye Cornelius Lankford.
He was a 1939 graduate of Edwardsport High School and began his career with PSI/Duke Energy at the Edwardsport Generating Station, where he retired as a superintendent in 1985. On December 10, 1939, he married Mescal O. Mickey Head and they made their life together for 70 years until her death on July 30, 2009. He was a lifelong resident of the area and he moved to Indianapolis with Mickey to be near their son. He was a member of the Bicknell First Christian Church, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, he served on the board of directors for the Freelandville Community Home and was elected chairman, and a 50-year member of the Bicknell Elks 1421. He and Mickey enjoyed dancing together and on his birthday he joined Mickey for another dance throughout eternity with his favorite dance partner.
He is survived by his son, Rod Lankford, and his wife Rosezita of Indianapolis, IN, his beloved granddaughters, Kimberly Grice and Christina O. Brian, and his great grandchildren, Ashley Grice, Tommy Grice, Kayla O. Brian, and Connor O Brian.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mescal O. Micke Lankford, his parents, Charles O and Faye Cornelius Lankford, his brothers, Dallas Lankford and Kenneth Lankford, and a sister, Dorothy Wollerman Powell.
