Orville “Gene” Laird, 72, of Griffin passed away Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Spalding Regional Hospital. He was born February 22, 1942 in Rome, GA to the late Charles Orville Laird & Rosa Lee Burgess Laird. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Chapman Laird and sister, Mary Joyce Simpkins. Survivors include son, Regi Laird; daughter, Cindy Johnson; brother, Richard Laird; sister, Martha Kelley and five grandchildren.
