           Orin Richard Dillon (of Edgar,NE) was born June 8, 1920 on the family farm in Alban Precinct, Nuckolls County, NE near Mt Clare.
​           He passed away on February 20, 2018 at the Fairview Manor, Fairmont, NE.  He was the 5th child of John M. and Lena Adell Coles Dillon. He graduated from Nelson High School, Nelson, NE in May 1939. He was inducted in to the US Army February 19, 1942. He married Doris Ruth Wilcox on June 5th, 1943 in the post chapel at Camp Swift, Bastrop County, TX. Their first child, Sandra, was born after he departed for the European Theater of Operations. During World War II, he served in the Army 66th Signal Battalion, 97th Infantry Regiment and saw combat duty in France and Germany then transferred to the Philippines and Japan with US occupation forces.  He was separated from the US Army January 9, 1946 as a Technical Sergeant

          When he returned from the war Orin, Doris and Sandra, lived in the Beulah neighborhood, Alban Precinct, Nuckolls County, NE. Orin then applied to Boyles College, Omaha, NE seeking employment with a railroad as a telegrapher and their son, Veon was born.  Orin was hired by the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad.  He began his career in a period of training and various assignments all in small towns of Nebraska.  During this time the third child, Marcia was born. In 1956 the family settled in Edgar, Clay County, NE. Orin retired from CB&Q Railroad in June 1981 after 35 years of service.

         During Orin’s years in Edgar he reactivated Boy Scout Troop 202 and served as Scoutmaster for many years. Orin was active in Edgar American Legion Post 202, The First Presbyterian Church, and Church of the Plains in Edgar.

          Orin is survived by his three children, Sandra and husband Bob Picraux, Lincoln, NE; Veon and wife Anita Hansen, Bellevue, NE; and Marcia and husband Dave Jarosik, Fairfield, NE; ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.

         Orin was preceded in death by his parents John and Lena; wife Doris, siblings Otto, Christine Jones, Loyd, Charles, Nelda Minert, and Roma Shaw.
