Oriel Ray “Bud” Taylor, 69, Indianapolis, passed away unexpectedly on October 16, 2009. He was born April 5, 1940 in Clay County, Tennessee, and moved from Anderson to Indianapolis 14 years ago.
He worked for the Kroger Company for 47 years and was currently employed with Kroger J906 in Indianapolis. He loved waiting on his customers and spending time with his friends at Kroger.
Bud was a member of the Daleville Church of Christ and the United Food & Commercial Workers Local #700. He gave the ultimate gift of becoming an organ and tissue donor.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia A. Crandall, whom he married on October 19, 1996; son, Brett Taylor of Fort Wayne with wife Kim and children, Bradley and Marissa; daughter, Dawn Phillips of Anderson with husband Dale and sons, Dalen and Dawson; daughter, Kim Milburn of Fishers with husband Brian and sons, Bailey and Graham; son, Adam Gerhart of Rockwell, Texas with wife Angie and children, Logan, Layton, and Landry.
He had a twin sister, Betty Dietrich of Anderson with husband Budd, a sister, Robbie Dickerson of Anderson and Lillie Hobbs of Daleville. He had several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oriel A. & Mary Wallace Taylor; brother, Jim Taylor; brothers-in-law, Lee Hobbs and Marvin Dickerson; sister-in-law, Sylvia Taylor and nephew, Doug Taylor. Those of us who knew him, know that he was an avid football fan and loved to watch the Indianapolis Colts.
He also loved to watch wrestling. He loved his family, children and grandchildren very much. His passing came suddenly while working and serving others, which was the only way he would have it.
