Orest Tadey (Tom) Dubno passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2019. He was predeceased by his wife, Irina L. Dubno, and his son, Gregory B. Dubno. He is survived by his daughter, Danna Dubno Blowers (John) of Ballston Lake, NY; sisters Irena Hladky of Cheshire, Olga Pospolita of New Haven, and Luba Dubno of New Haven; sister-in law Svetlana Golembieski of North Branford, brother-in-law Serge Leschuk (Andrea) of Clinton, and sister-in-law Jane Leschuk of North Branford, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Orest was born in Ukraine on June 22, 1937, son of the late Hryhoryj and Emilia Skorna Dubno. He came to the United States with his family in 1949, and after living in Maryland and New York City, settled in New Haven. He was a graduate of James Hillhouse High School, and upon graduation proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, where he was stationed as an MP in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. After an honorable discharge, he embarked on a career in banking with The First New Haven National Bank, his last role being Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager. In 1975, Governor Ella T. Grasso appointed him Deputy Tax Commissioner for the State of Connecticut.
