Orel Genevieve Gregory

Orel was born to Bertha & Clifford Collins in Madison, Beaver County, Oklahoma on November 12, 1922 and passed away on Friday, October 4, 2013. She graduated from High School in Laverne, Oklahoma. Being a child of the depression she understood hardships, but was surrounded by a loving family which included seven children.

On December 20, 1941, she married Arthur Gregory and they had a long and full life together.  Together they raised five children, moved from Oklahoma, to Texas, Kansas, Wyoming, Idaho, Washington, and then after retirement, moved back to Idaho.

After retirement, Mom and Dad had time to travel and took cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean, tours to Great Britain, Italy, Germany, Austria, as well as Australia and New Zealand.

Mom and Dad both enjoyed square and round dancing for many years. Mom was an excellent seamstress and made all of their outfits for the dances, as well as making many cute clothes and quilts for the grandchildren. She often designed her own patterns for her sewing projects.  She had also enjoyed cooking and baking and her kitchen was the source of many fine pies, cookies, cakes and breads.

She suffered from several health issues in her last years, but never let that get her down. Her independent spirit was reflected in the nickname the nurses at the care center gave her of the “little firecracker”.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Mink of Troy, ID; son, Roy Gregory of Vancouver, WA; daughter, Terri Currid of Boise, ID; and daughter, Lori Gregory of Bellevue, WA;  grandchildren, Josephine Brooks, Bryan Currid, Nathan Gregory, Sara Rose, and Caitlin Gregory; three great-grandchildren, Everett Brooks, Dahlia Gregory and, Reier Gregory.

She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur, and son Charles Gregory.
