ORAVON ROBERT WINTER “BOB” JUNE 25, 1926 – OCTOBER 3, 2015
Oravon R. “Bob” Winter, 89, of Sierra Vista, Arizona, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 3, 2015, after his battle with Cancer. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Georgie Mae; two sons, Robert Barry; Stanley Dale; his father, mother; a brother, Delmar and a sister, Rosella “Sally” Miles. Bob is survived by is, granddaughter Mellissa Kim Winter of Sherwood, Oregon; grandson, Robert J. Winter and wife Dorothy of Prescott, Arizona; granddaughter Sondra Jackson and husband Robert, of Weaverville, California; a brother, Ronald and his wife Cindy of Madera, California; eight Great Grandchildren and a number of numerous nieces and nephews. He was born on a farm at Utica, Yankton, South Dakota, on June 25, 1926 to Emil and Alma Winter. He attended the first six years of school in a one room schoolhouse. He attended grades seven, eight and nine in Yankton, South Dakota. He finished high school and graduated from Porterville union High School, Porterville, California. He joined the Navy and served as a Radarman 3/c aboard the USS Drew, APA 162 in WWII. After his discharge from the Navy, he worked as a printer for forty-four years. He worked in commercial printing shops and several newspapers, learning many facets of the trade. He spent most of his adult life n the San Francisco Bay Area.
