Mrs. Ora Lee Montgomery, 96 of Decatur passed away Friday, August 31, 2012 at Parkway Medical Center in Decatur.  She was born December 18, 1915 in Madison County to the late Charlie and Betty Halsey Williams. She grew up in Triana where she received her formal education.  In 1939, she united in holy matrimony to the late Puter Montgomery Sr.   They settled in Morgan County and to this union five children were born; W.H., Puter Jr., Dean, Linda and Elaine.  

 

She accepted Christ as her savior at an early age and later united with Spring Hill M.B. Church.  She served faithfully in numerous capacities including Mother’s Board, Church Secretary, Missionary Society, Sunday school and Senior Choir.  Mother Montgomery loved her extended church family and shared with everyone her unique and loving spirit.

  

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 35 years, Puter Montgomery Sr., and siblings; Charlie Williams Jr., Bennie Williams, Preston Banks, Jessie Caudle and Odell Williams Caudle. 

 

She is survived by sons; Willie Howard (Barbara) Montgomery of Tacoma, WA, Puter (Armelia) Montgomery Jr. of Athens; daughters, Emma Dean (Phil) Bullick of Galveston, IN, Linda Faye (Ted) Walton of Huntsville and Elaine (James) Rowell of Florence; 11 grandchildren, Masheldia (Larry) Green, Pernell Montgomery, Keith  (Diane) Montgomery, Nikki Nahouraii, Kimberly Morris, Tarrius Sykes, Courtney (Mark) Tate, Dawn Anglin, Crescent Rowell, Candra (Kengie) Bass, James “Trae” Rowell III and 6 great-grandchildren, special and loving sister-in-law, Delsie Williams and niece Bessie Mae Matthews both of Decatur and special cousin, Harriet Francis Williams and Robert Williams both of Decatur and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
