Opal Watkins Rhodes, age 87, a longtime resident of Shalimar, Florida, passed away at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center on Thursday, October 26, 2006.

 

Mrs. Rhodes was born on October 23, 1919 in Florala, Alabama, to Dallas Emery Watkins and Caroline Cravey Watkins.  A United States Air Force Lt. Colonel’s wife, she was a world traveler.  She treasured time spent in the various places stationed.  Mrs. Rhodes was a loving and devoted wife.  She enjoyed housework and maintained an impeccable home.  Mrs. Rhodes was also an avid Bridge player and valued many of the friendships made while playing Bridge.         

 

Mrs. Rhodes leaves behind her cherished memories to her devoted husband of 49 years, Hugh “Dusty” E. Rhodes, of Shalimar, Florida; sisters-in-law, Maggie Watkins of Montgomery, Alabama, and Bessie A. Rhodes of Jacksonville, Florida; brother-in-law, Robert L. Rhodes and his wife Martha of Jacksonville, Florida; and niece, Adrienne W. Moore and husband James B. of Montgomery, Alabama.
