This journey began for Opal Nelvin Stull, when she was born on August 16, 1925, in Henderson, Texas to her parents, Cleveland Strong and Pearlee Cole Strong. She was raised surrounded by her brothers, Billy, Augusta and her sister, Georgia. She was a quick learner and started cooking at a very early age for her brothers and sister. She also learned how to press hair. She received her early education in Henderson, where she attended the local public schools. In 1941, Opal united in holy matrimony to J.C. Lee in Henderson, Texas. They first met when they both were in school together. To this union, Reba, Dorothy, Alfred, Alfonso, Lindell and Lawrence were born. In 1952, she relocated to Denver, Colorado. She met Otis Stull in 1954, and to this union, DeWayne and Eva were born. With this union, she became the step mother of Van, Freddie and LaWanda. They all remember her as a loving and devoted mother whose pride and joy was the care and nurture of her family. She was later blessed to have twenty three grandchildren, forty five great grandchildren and nineteen great great grandchildren, who were an additional source of joy and pride in her life. By profession, Opal was employed by Mercy Hospital located in Denver. Her co-workers and employers remember her hard work, dedication, she being dependable and working well with others.
