Opal Irene Smith Corley Felton, 83, of Shinnston passed away Wednesday, February 09, 2011 at United Hospital Center following an extended illness. She was born in Harrison County on August 14, 1927 the daughter of the late Roscoe Smith and Elzie Smith. She is survived by her husband Robert “Bob” Felton. In addition to her husband she is survived by one daughter; Sharon C. Spadafore and husband Louis of Grafton; one son; Max L. Corley II and Companion Denise “Dede” Kelly of Bridgeport; three grandchildren; Max L. Corley III and wife Kristen, Bethany Ayoub and husband Albert, and Anthony Spadafore and fiancée Angel Dorsey; six great grandchildren; Will and Declan Corley, Sean, Sophia and Chloe Ayoub and Serafina Spadafore; and one brother; Thomas Hubbard. In addition to her parents, Opal was preceded in death by one brother; Elden W. Smith; one sister; Glenda Bland and one great grandson; Liam Alexander Corley. Opal was in the first class at St. Mary’s for Surgical Tech’s and then went to work for St. Mary’s Hospital, she then worked for Union Protestant Hospital and Heritage Nursing Home as a nurse’s aide. Opal was also a member of the VFW Aux 573 and American Legion Post 13 Aux in Clarksburg. She was an avid trout fisherman, loved to dance, and square dance and most of all loved her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. She was a loving wife and mother and will be deeply missed.
