Onno Berndt Buss, age 98, of Downers Grove, Illinois, formerly of La Grange Park, died
December 21, 2022 at his residence, Saratoga Grove Retirement Home. Onno was born
August 22, 1924 in Amsterdam, Holland, son of the late Berndt and Betty Buss and
brother of Helga B. Buss, recently deceased, of Carmel, California. He married Lois Linn
Killough in 1954. Linn preceded him in death in 1998. Onno served in WWII in
Newfoundland and Labrador with the USAAF. He graduated from Wesleyan University in
Connecticut. Onno worked as a technical representative for Plastics Engineering Co. of
Sheboygan, WI for 35 years retiring in 1990.
personality, his sense of humor, his keen interest in learning and love of travel shared by
his wife. He enjoyed swimming and was a member of the West Suburban YMCA and the
Arlington Heights Park District Indoor Swim Center for many years. Onno was a dear
grandfather, father and husband. Remembered with love by his daughter, Martha, son-
in-law James Bond, grandchildren Julia and Maria of Pierrefonds, Quebec, Canada and
stepbrother John Hansen of Asheville, NC. Son Dr. Neal W. Buss, DDS, predeceased
him. His family thank the staff of Saratoga Grove Retirement Home for their excellent
care of Onno. His remains will be buried next to those of his wife at Mt.
Parkersburg, West Virginia.

to make you laugh and was a pro at one-liners. I’ve had the privilege of seeing him every
