Mr. Onlyn “Ray” Murphy, 84, passed away, on Monday, August 19, 2022, at the Malcolm Randal V.A. Medical Center in Gainesville, FL; following an extended illness. He was the son of the late Phines and Lela Siegfried Murphy, he was preceded in death by his wife in 2009 Norinne B. Murphy, and two sons Mitch and Joe Murphy a sister Barbara Rohlf and her husband Marv, and one brother Ivan Murphy. Ray was of the Catholic Faith and had made Lake City his home since 2016 moving from Oglesby, ILL. Ray enjoyed fishing, puzzles, reading and traveling, and volunteering in the National and State Parks, he especially like Olena State Park in Florida. Ray was a member of the 1956 graduating class of Carthage High School in Illinois after high school Ray went and served his country in the United States Airforce serving during the Vietnam conflict and obtaining the rank of Major. While serving in the Army Ray earned his veterinary degree and served as the veterinarian at the horse track and harness races in Illinois.
Ray is survived by his daughter Kathleen Murphy, his partner Barbara Singer two sons Richard Butler and John Murphy, his two sisters Donna Ganion (Larry) Kanas City, Missouri, Karen Murphy, Carthage Illinois, his sister-in-law Patt Murphy, and his two grandsons Nicholas Butler and Andrew Murphy and good friend John Norris.
