Onita V. Parlier, 86, of Virginia, IL died Friday, October 14, 2011 at Walker Nursing Home in Virginia.

She was born May 27, 1925 in Cass County, IL; the daughter of Chris H. and Myrtle A. Noblitt Ring. She married Elmer Parlier on January 24, 1945 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in rural Arenzville, IL and he preceded her in death on April 5, 1979.

She is survived by two sons, Milt Parlier (wife, Denise) of Virginia and Bob Parlier (wife, Marie) of Virginia; five grandsons, Todd Parlier (wife, Amy) of Virginia, Jim Parlier (companion, Becky) of Spring Valley, Andy Parlier (wife, Stephanie) of Virginia, Brad Parlier (wife, Jessica) of Virginia, and Chris Parlier (wife, Simone) of Virginia; 12 great grandchildren; a sister, Ida Mai Tegeder of Jacksonville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Parlier was employed at Dobbins Bakery, West Food Store, Trenter’s Grocery, and the Ben Franklin store, all in Virginia. She later served as a caretaker for Annabelle Jokisch and as assistant activity director for Walker Nursing Home in Virginia. In addition, she assisted her husband with their grain and livestock farm. An accomplished cook, Onita baked many wedding cakes for area families. She was a thoughtful and dedicated community volunteer. She also enjoyed many travel experiences in recent years.
